Welcome to Level Up Tutoring!
My name is Dayna Schwartz and I’m a professional mathematics tutor. My tutoring career began in 2012 through an internship course during my senior year of undergraduate studies at DePaul University. What started as a ten-week internship turned into a 15-month job and eventually establishing my business, Level Up Tutoring.
When I graduated from DePaul University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, I began a full-time position at a marketing analytics consulting firm as a statistical data analyst. In the evenings, between 2013 and 2015, I attended graduate school at DePaul, completing my Master of Science in Applied Statistics.
Although I was thrilled with the opportunities my master’s degree opened for me, something was missing – tutoring. In 2015, I started a part-time tutoring position at Sylvan Learning Centers. After taking on a pricing analytics position at a Fortune 500 office supply company in late 2016, I decided to dedicate myself full-time to this role and left Sylvan in May of 2017.
My time tutoring my peers at DePaul University taught me how to manage the unexpected. Some days, I would tutor one student. During midterms and finals week, I could be tutoring up to 18 students at a time. Tutoring first graders through high school seniors at Sylvan Learning Centers taught me how structure and consistency in your tutoring can allow for watching trends in student’s learning.
Two years after leaving Sylvan, while 32 weeks pregnant with my first child, my corporate position was eliminated. Although this was a highly stressful time, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. During the first five months of my son’s life, I realized that corporate analytics was the wrong field and Level Up Tutoring was born.
At Level Up Tutoring, I focus on building your student’s confidence and interest in mathematics and ensure that they have the necessary skills required for a strong math foundation. Each student starts off with a one-on-one, one-hour long assessment so I can get to know what motivates and interests them, as well as understand their math skills and how they really feel about math class.
Let me help your student succeed! Call or e-mail me to get started!
